Today is 1st of January, and by now, many of you would have already taken your new year resolutions.
And I can guess that one of them is to be the healthiest version of yourself.
No? If you are not healthy, then you must.
Because when you are, the whole world looks different, and it all starts with your mirror.
Believe me, I was on the other side of fitness for a good portion of my life, and it didn’t feel right.
And it’s not about not accepting who you are.
First, you are not your body.
Second, it’s about the health and mental issues I had to face being an obese, shy and introvert guy.
It’s all about regaining the health we all have a right to.
It’s all about taking care of the body God has given all of us to live this life.
It’s our vehicle for this life. And shouldn’t we care for our vehicle?
Let’s say, when you drive a car to reach your destination, would you accept a tyre that could leave you stranded on the highway, or a horn that doesn’t work?
Then why do we keep abusing our physical health? (It causes physiological-mental health issues too)
There are many reasons for it, ranging from instant gratification from tasty food to pain from working out.
After all, You Only Live Once. Right?
Wrong! That’s where we all go wrong.
If you don’t believe me, look out for patterns in your proximity. If there’s an aunt or uncle or even your parents who are unhealthy, ask them what health problems do they go through.
You will find all kinds of problems that can scare the hell out of the flab on your body.
Let me share the things I had to go through.
- Frequent chest pains
- Bad immune system (Fell sick quickly)
- Low stamina
- Shame when my pants tear in public places
- Frequent cramps in legs, muscle spasms in back and so on.
And I was in my teens. Just imagine what would have happened if I had been in my late forties.
The thing is, instant gratification has spoiled our dopamine transmitters so much that we can’t resist the temptation of tasty but unhealthy food. (Self-control gets deteriorated when dopamine transmitters get fried. It also results in addictions of other sorts.)
And as working out causes pain and effort, we just say, that’s not our thing.
Well, let me share a truth with you:
You can’t escape PAIN. That’s not the choice life has given us.
It has only given us the choice to choose the kind of pain we want.
And please, my dear brothers and sisters, don’t choose the pain of being unhealthy. As with age, it will become more unbearable than you might imagine.
Phew!! I wrote all this in a single stroke as it all came from the years of pain I had to go through.
And I don’t want you to go through the same.
So, here I’m sharing my journey where I lost 20 kgs of weight in 2-3 months without gym. (If you can join a gym, do that. It will help you escape the now-deal-with-lose-skin problem I had to face)
Rather than diet plans and workout regimes, my journey will tell you about the psychological hacks and mindset that will help you in your journey.
And if you need someone to talk to, just comment/tweet to me to motivate you further.
PS – My body type allowed me this feat. These steps are to motivate you to achieve your resolution this year. The best way is to consult a nutritionist to know about your body type and metabolism rate. That’s the fastest way. It will still take efforts and strategy. That’s where the following Thread will help.
